An Old Jar Refresher:
Create a stunning centerpiece for your outdoor table.
If you are like me, you have one or two or ten little jars hanging around in your cupboards taking up space. Over the years I’ve managed to collect a few from finished jam, olives, and specialty drinks. I have a small kitchen, so I’m not sure why I didn’t recycle them a long time ago. I’m glad I didn’t ‘cause now I can share this cool hack with you all!

Turns out I had leftover flowers- roses, ranunculus, and hypericum berries, from an arrangement I did recently. It doesn’t really matter what kind of flowers you use for this simple project. If you don’t have leftover flowers, or you have a particular color scheme going on, then by all means go out and find the flowers you desire. If you don’t have a color scheme to follow, an easy way to create this look without buying several different bunches of flowers and spending more money than you want, is to just buy a premade bouquet that catches your eye! This way you get a variety of flowers and spend much less 😉 Even better- pick some flowers from your yard if you are so lucky as to have some laying around! So…all you need is a bunch of jars filled half-way with water, some cutting shears, and an assortment of flowers!
I mean this couldn’t get any easier, people! Simply cut the stems at varying lengths and place them in the jars. I used about three or four flowers per jar. As a general rule, I usually cut the stems so that the flower heads stand about one to three inches above the top of the jar.
You want to enjoy the tops of the flower heads…and not really their stems, so the shorter you make the stem, the more flower tops you will see. Also, because this arrangement will be in the center of the table, you don’t want the flowers to be so tall that people can’t see over them when sitting down to gab it up!
Once the jars are filled to your satisfaction…or you have used up all of your flowers, group the jars in the center of the table. I happen to have an umbrella in the middle of my table, so I placed the jars all around the pole. Boom! Instant beautiful table! You can do this on your outdoor table like I did, or on your dining table inside. This is the perfect arrangement to make last minute when you have friends coming over. Personally, I think it makes the guests feel more special when you spend a little time on the details! Try it for yourself! You will be so happy you did…promise!
