Yellow Billy Balls to Grow On

A minimalist flower design

...that will add a pop of color to your home or office decor

These yellow Billy Balls, technically called Craspedia, are a funky flower that I’ve used a lot in my flower arrangements.  They are so cool with other flowers and really make the arrangement pop! They are also totally cool all by themselves!  They are smaller than a golf ball and don’t take up much space.  Hence, I found a small black ceramic container that I thought would be a perfect way to feature these little yellow beauties. You can use any leak-proof vessel. A coffee mug or teacup would be cute! This would make a super cute gift and the Billy Balls actually last forever! They will dry and look almost exactly the same as when they are fresh!

 ***************

Here’s the Items I used:  6 stems of yellow Craspedia (Billy Balls), the small black ceramic “GROW” container (that I got from Home Goods), wet floral foamcutting shears, a knife, and some chartreuse green reindeer moss.

First I soaked the floral foam in a bucket of water.  The foam is saturated when it turns a darker color.  This process takes about 10-20 minutes depending on the size of the foam. There is no limit to how long you can soak it for- longer than 20 minutes is fine.

I then cut the foam to fit in the container leaving half an inch from the top of the container so the moss will sit in nicely.

I cut the stems of the Billy Balls four to six inches high and stuck them about an inch into the floral foam at varying heights.

For a little more interest, I used the bottom part of the Billy Balls stems and stuck them in between. The finishing touch is the green reindeer moss which I took little chunks of and stuck in between the stems to cover the foam.  And that’s it!  Super easy! Give as a gift or place on your desk or nightstand. I love it in my kitchen by the sink too!  “GROW” get some Billy Balls! 😉
