Fall Flowers Are In The Air!

I LOVE Fall! It’s my fav time of year. I grew up in a town where Fall meant the leaves changed colors all over the place, you could wear sweaters all day long, and pumpkin spice lattes never went out of style! Here in LA…well…not so many trees, and it’s usually too hot to wear a sweater by noon. I do enjoy my fair share of pumpkin spice lattes, however! Anyhoo, it’s a really fun time of year for those of us who love to decorate with flowers! I LOVE all the Fall colors and I love thinking outside the box with my arrangements this time of year. The change of season brings out the CREATIVITY for me 😉

I know I said I love thinking outside the box…but actually, I loove thinking INSIDE the box with many of my arrangements. I love using square containers and incorporate a PAVE design style with all the super colorful, cool flowers. (Pave design just means the flower stems are cut pretty short and are arranged right next to each other using little to no greens.) I’m always drawn to the bright oranges, rust colors, all shades of greens and browns, burnt yellows, and maroon colors. I love using them together in a rustic box or container.

I’m also a huge fan of placing the flowers in a row-by-row fashion. This is a great way  to use up any random leftover flower stems that you may have. Using a VARIETY of flowers is fun to use this way! You can also create these types of arrangements by purchasing a premade bouquet! A premade bouquet is like a little mix of flowers all in one bundle so you don’t have to purchase a bunch of an individual flower…times four or five! Using a premade bouquet is a cost-effective way of getting variety for fewer dollars 😉 Of course, I love adding pumpkins and gourds, or funky seed pods, or dried orange slices, or even a candle- which you have to be very careful with if you actually light it! (Disclaimer: don’t light it…just use it for looks!)

I ALWAYS finish off these arrangements with MOSS! My fav mosses to use are green Spanish moss, sheet moss (used in the middle pic above), and green reindeer moss. Sometimes I use a combination of mosses, or all three (as shown in the far right pic above). I’m a HUGE fan of using moss! It finishes off the arrangement, hides any floral foam that may be showing, and gives it an earthy, rustic, organic feel.

PS…I have links to purchase each of the three mosses in my “Favorites” tab. Don’t worry…I got ya! 😉

I hope you will be inspired to think outside…AND inside the box when making your next Fall flower arrangement! Really any color will do! Get the flowers that jump out at you and use creative containers! I have used everything from an inexpensive copper utensils holder I bought from Home Goods to an old tin I picked up from a second-hand store one day. It’s amazing how if you start to look around in your kitchen or garage, what container you may find that you can use to create a Fall inspired centerpiece! (Just make sure you test it with water in it first to make sure it doesn’t leak.)

Why not serve up a platter of Fall flowers to decorate your outdoor dining table..like this one above! It’s so fun to do and all your guests will be in awe! I love setting the seasonal “mood” with flowers inside and outside my home. If you want to learn how to make an arrangement like this, check out my YouTube video link below!
