You Should Van Gogh To This Exhibit!

Vincent loved to paint flowers

...and this immersive exhibit featuring them was amazing!

When we think of the incomparable Vincent Van Gogh, probably what comes to mind are his famous self-portraits, and other paintings like “The Bedroom”, “Starry Nights”, “Irises”, “Sunflowers” and “Cafe Terrace at Night” just to name a few. One of my absolute favs is his “Twelve Sunflowers in a Vase”.

My husband, Blaine, bought me tickets to the exhibit back in May for my bday. I was like, “Thanks babe, that’s really cool”. But I had no idea it was going to be THIS cool! It’s the end of October now and I know that the LA location opened up additional viewings, so go online and try and get tickets! You won’t be disappointed! It’s a totally unique experience…perfect for date night!

Right when I entered, there was this cool neon hallway that led to the bar/lounge area. As you can see, the entire wall behind the bar was covered in sunflowers. I was immediately in LOVE!

Then there was this insightful quote that was sprawled out across a huge wall before entering the show. In Vincent’s own words: “The beginning is perhaps more difficult than anything else, but keep heart, it will turn out all right.” Ummm…I’d say that’s pretty fitting for me at this juncture. I’ll take those words of motivation and be inspired to continue on. You should too!

Hello, cool “Hollywood” sign! I wonder if there is a different cool sign like this representing the other cities the exhibit takes place in? Perhaps there’s a cool “Vancouver” or “Paris” sign!

The actual exhibit was gigantic!  It was essentially a large open warehouse space that displayed Van Gogh’s artwork projected over 500,000 cubic feet.  The transitions from one amazing painting to another was super cool. Sometimes the images sprawled across the walls and the entire floor which made you really feel like you were emersed in his art! The entire show was set to music which made it even more interesting!  It was continuously changing from bright, colorful, beautiful splendor to some of his pretty solemn, dark, and moody pieces.

Have a browse at the photos and video below. Keep in mind these are just a few of many! I mainly tried to capture his floral works because…well they don’t call me Flower Tangent by Debora for nothing 😉

I read that producers say “Immersive Van Gogh” will offer “an all-encompassing experience of art, light, sound, movement, and imagination. I can attest to that statement! Hopefully, you can experience it in person at an exhibit in your city but if not, I hope you enjoyed a taste of it here on my blog! 😉
