18 Feb How To Be Creative With Your Photos!
A look into a few of my favorite photo APPS
What I created with my own flowers and photos! It's an addicting collaboration of beauty and color!
I LOVE flowers…hmmm…obvious much?! 😉 I love creating outside-the-box arrangements and I even love photographing them. I love giving flowers as gifts and I totally love having fresh flowers on my dining table each week! I love browsing on Pinterest to see all the amazing, cool flowery things!
Over the years I’ve researched and spent many hours playing around with endless photo apps. and platforms. I have soo many photos of my flowers that I’m always on the lookout for cool things to do with them. I’ve made many a personalized postcard/card. I have purchased many a canvas print of my arrangements to give as gifts or to keep for myself. (full disclosure…I have a problem with ordering canvas prints when I don’t even have any more wall space to hang them!)
Lately, I’ve been mesmerized by the flower headdress style artwork inspired by, but by no means limited to, the one and only, Frida Kahlo. So, I will talk about my fav photo editor apps and show you visuals by way of my silly “Debora Kahlo” creations!
The purpose for writing this blog post is not to delve into elaborate detail about how to use the apps/platforms I use. I’ll save that for another post 😉 Rather, I will highlight what I use them FOR so you have a brief idea of what they are all about. I have both the mobile app and the iMac desktop version of each of the three photo editor platforms I am about to highlight…
FIRST of all, one of my most FAVORITE apps for photos hands down is one called BeFunky. It’s what I use when I want to transform my photo into a work of art. Here you can change a photo into a cartoonized creation, or a fabulous water-color painting, or something whimsical, dramatic, or…well…super funky! There are literally hundreds of options, and it’s as easy to do as clicking a button. It’s not complicated at all. You don’t have to know code or navigate something difficult like Photoshop. I’m sure I don’t even know half of what BeFunky has to offer. I do know, however, that what I do use it for, is really awesome.
The photo of me above is the original. Now check out just a few of the cool artsy options I chose below!
Amazing, right? If you love being creative, you will LOVE BeFunky!
A SECOND creative platform that I use pretty much every day for my photos, my DIY flower videos on YouTube, my website posts, and all of my Pinterest posts, is CANVA. This is where I created this fun flower headdress photo of me! Check it out!
I started with one of my flower photos (above left). I removed the background and big white bubble vase. I chose a random pic of me (middle photo above) and also applied the background remover to “cut” me out. Then I used several die-cut flowers that are available in the Canva platform. They have thousands of items to choose from…it’s so awesome. Lastly, I combined them all on top of my head…et voila! Now I had something put together that literally took me 20 minutes and NOW I had something ready to upload to BeFunky to really jazz it up!! Canva is so amazing, and actually essential to my business. As I mentioned earlier, I use Canva for all of my YouTube videos, my Pinterest posts, my website blogs, even my Tiktok/FB/Insta posts oftentimes. You can create anything on Canva and upload it directly to your social media platform. Canva is a MUST!
The THIRD platform I use all the time to enhance my photos is Adobe Lightroom. Pretty much every photo I use goes through the Lightroom “salon” before I publish it somewhere. Here’s where I make any necessary touch-ups and here’s where I use presets to enhance the brightness of my photos. Even though I shoot outside in great light, AND I use a ring light, it just makes that little bit of difference that sets my photos to a higher standard. (see before and afters above)
So there you have it. My three fav photo editor apps/platforms. Adobe Lightroom for enhancing and touch-ups; Canva for assembling and creating posts and all other additions to my photos; and last but not least, BeFunky for creating works of art!
In case you are wondering if they are free apps/platforms. Unfortunately, they are not. I use these so much that it’s worth it for me to pay the monthly memberships. Lightroom is $9.99/month. Canva is $12.99/month and BeFunky is $5/month. Some of them offer free memberships. But for what I use it for, I need the good stuff that is not available in the free versions (of course).
Well, this has truly been a fun post to create! I know I’m not the only sucker for a great photo enhancer/editor out there! Hopefully, you will find some helpful info somewhere in my babbles! 😉
Happy creating!
~Debora
