Happy Easter Flowers!

Six of My Favorite Tulip Centerpieces...

that scream, "SPRING has indeed SPRUNG!"

I LOVE Spring!  I LOVE Easter! I LOVE tulips of all sorts and colors. The season is all about renewal and revival. For many, it’s a time of change, growth, or starting fresh.

I love the analogy between a simple tulip…and, well, life in general. As you may know (if you have watched any of my tulip DIY YouTube videos), tulips are one of the only flowers that actually continue to grow even after the stems have been cut. In the same way, I guess you could equate that to when life “cuts” you down, like a tulip…you can somehow power through and continue to grow. That’s pretty inspiring, don’t you think?

Tulips are so amazing all on their own, really. You can totally add different flowers to create a fantastic arrangement, or simply, (and I mean simply because it’s so easy) stick a bunch of tulips in a vase and it will be amazing. Any color or variety will do! Seriously!

There are literally thousands of tulip varieties available. I definitely gravitate towards the brighter, multi-layered, dramatic ones. For me, it’s really hard to pass up buying a few bunches of these beauties when I’m supposed to be shopping for groceries at Trader Joe’s or any other market for that matter. 😉

Two of my absolute fav varieties of tulips are Parrot tulips (above) and Peony tulips (below). I love that they have super interesting shaped petals, or are multi-layered. In my opinion, interesting petals=texture, uniqueness, and charm!

Don’t get me wrong, I love all tulips…even the simple white ones 😉 There’s definitely a time and place for all colors and varieties of tulips! I love working with tulips and being creative with them in my arrangements.

Here are six of my fav tulip arrangements…

ONE~ A Tulip and Pussy Willow Vase Arrangement.

Probably THE simplest way to display your tulips is to arrange them in a clear vase. I used this giant cylinder-shaped vase I purchased from Target a couple of years ago. I got these amazing multi-colored peony-style tulips from Trader Joe’s, which on their own, would make a beautiful centerpiece. However, to add drama I decided to accentuate the tulips with several pussy willow twigs. Also to add some interest, I added a simple skinny black ribbon wrap around the plain vase. Black is an accent color in my home so I chose to use black. Jute twine or another color ribbon would be cute also.

Note: I purposely cut the tulip stems a bit shorter than desired to account for the fact that they will grow taller over the coming few days!

TWO~ A Tulip in a Head of Cabbage Centerpiece.

What could be more Easter-y than a tulips-in-a-cabbage arrangement, right? I stumbled across this one when I was browsing Pinterest and thought it was so adorable. It’s really easy to make. You just cut out the inside of a whole cabbage and place a chunk of floral foam in. Then carefully stick your tulips into the foam. I’ve also seen this type of arrangement done by wrapping a small glass jar with layers of cabbage leaves held together with some jute twine tied into a little bow. Such a clever and fun idea!

THREE~ A Mason Jars Dyed Tulip Arrangement.

This was an exciting experiment I tried…dyeing my tulips! I’m normally not a big fan of dyed flowers. But I had to see what all the hype was about, AND there are no turquoise tulips which was the particular color scheme I was going for…so I tried it. Actually, I think it was a successful experiment! The white tulips sucked up the color brilliantly! Not gonna lie…it was fun…like coloring eggs but without the stinky smell 😉

Just using a few mismatched smallish glass jars as the vessels for these cool tulips arranged down the center of the table is, in my opinion, an exciting and whimsical display.

FOUR~ A Mossy Cake Pan Tulip Arrangement.

I keep saying that all of these tulip arrangements are easy…but I think this one is truly the easiest of them all. I mean look at it. I literally used a 9″ cake pan I have sitting in my kitchen cupboard. The most difficult thing about putting this one together is getting the Wet Floral Foam on Amazon (which you can click on and purchase right here). You soak the foam for about 10-20 minutes and then cut it to sit inside the cake pan. Then you just cut the tulip stems super short…like four inches long and stick them in the foam.  Lastly, you cover the foam with this Sheet Moss on Amazon and place it in between the tulip stems. That’s it! So easy and yet so unique and interesting!

FIVE~ A Big Bow Dramatic Tulip and Glads Arrangement.

This large-and-in-charge tulip arrangement is a show stopper. I must have packed in about seven bunches of varying tulips in the extra-large square vase. I LOVE how it turned out with the tall gladiolas sticking up to add not only height but also a WOW factor. The giant bow helped with that too…of course 😉 This would be super pretty on an entry table or large dining table!

SIX~ A Whimsical Tulip Flower Easter Basket.

I was going for a basket filled with (flower) Easter eggs! I think it kind of turned out! Basically, I used the same technique making this one as I did with the mossy cake pan arrangement above.  Since these round peony tulips kind of resemble eggs, it was a no-brainer for me to use them in this fun, whimsical basket-type centerpiece.

I bet you are itching to go out and buy some tulips now…aren’t you?! There are so many different ways of arranging them you can’t go wrong. Just GO GET SOME! After you do, watch this DIY video on my YouTube channel (link below) for step-by-step instructions! You can totally do it! Have your mom or bestie do it with you!

Happy Spring and Happy Easter everyone! Start fresh with some fresh TULIPS in your home!
